Local artist Diana Shearon will host a plein air painting workshop at Moss Mountain Farm on Friday, October 20.
Diana is a full-time fine artist who draws inspiration from nature. She has grown to love painting outdoors, and the majority of her landscapes are paintings are painted on site. The combination of Diana’s rural background and abstract realism approach to land scenes has awarded her exhibitions with high acclaim and recognition across the region.
We talked to Diana to find out what participants can expect during the workshop at Moss Mountain Farm.

What can participants expect to learn during their day with you?
– This class will guide new or experienced plein air painters through the process of figuring out what equipment works best for them, developing small studies for future compositions, and finding a focus for their paintings.
What makes Moss Mountain Farm unique as a place of inspiration for artists?
– The gardens and property are perfect for plein air painting. They are easy to navigate and offer such a variety of scenes to paint–from woodland scenes, formal gardens, and, of course, the beautiful creatures of Poultryville. Having great facilities is a wonderful plus and being able to partake of the excellent lunch prepared by the Moss Mountain kitchen makes the experience of plein air painting as enjoyable as it could possible get.
How much experience does someone need to have before registering for your workshop?
– This class is geared toward plein air painters at various experience levels. The beginner level painters will have assistance with basic supplies needed and very hands-on instruction about the process of painting out of doors. More experienced students will have guidance in further developing their skills and technique.
