What is greensand? I saw a recipe for growing great tomatoes and greensand was listed as an ingredient.
Greensand is an organic fertilizer composed primarily of iron-potassium silicate. I like to use it because it not only gives plants a boost, it will help improve soil texture and drainage.
It is an excellent source of potassium, iron oxide and as many as 30 other elements. When used on tomatoes it helps to prolong fruiting.
I have had the best luck finding greensand locally at a farmer’s co-op or you can buy it online or through the mail from organic garden supply companies such as Gardener’s Supply Company, www.gardeners.com.
