Moss Mountain Farm is happy to announce our first ever Family Farm day! Create memories that will last a lifetime while learning about Moss Mountain farm and its involvement in the local food movement, organic gardening, and the preservation of heritage poultry breeds.

  • Breathe in the fresh river valley air and learn how you and your family can contribute to sustainable food production in your own backyard
  • Get to know about our mission to protect nearly extinct and heritage poultry breeds and why it’s important
  • Visit our apiary and our pollinator gardens and learn why honey bees are crucial to our ecosystem and our success as a species
  • Finally, enjoy a day away from screens basking in the natural surrounding of P. Allen Smith’s Jeffersonian inspired estate.

Farm Family Day Includes:

  • A guided tour through P. Allen Smith’s three-story Greek Revival-style home. Guests will learn about P. Allen Smith’s authentic design approach that pays homage to the history of the farm.
  • Explore Arkansas’ beautiful countryside overlooking the Arkansas River while touring Allen’s Terrace Garden, the Hidden Rose Garden, Hydrangea Allée, and his one-acre Vegetable Garden.
  • Last but certainly not least, a visit to Poultryville to meet the chickens and other animals. Learn about Allen’s effort to conserve America’s early poultry breeds and why he started the Heritage Poultry Conservancy. While you are there, say hi to your favorite farm animals from Allen’s television show—Trudy, Moose, Smudge & Squeak, just to name a few.

We have invited a few food trucks to join us! We will update who will be there closer to the event date.

Family Farm Day is from 9 am to 12 pm.

Please note we will not provide a lunch with this event.
