America's Best Garden and Landscape Designer

P. Allen Smith

My Promise

My promise to my friends and my mission in life is to help individuals, leaders, and communities improve our world through education, design, conservation, and media.

My television and publishing work, social, and now streaming media are all dedicated to equipping families with earth-friendly solutions to support their everyday lives.

In the center of the country, just outside Little Rock, I open my home to share my design, gardening, preservation and eco-friendly building practices for all to experience. My garden and landscape design practice helps families and organizations create places that embrace the gifts of nature.

My latest venture is creating communities around the country that respect the earth, improve our health, and are beautiful to live, work and thrive within – for all age groups and persons.

I welcome you to join me in supporting the cause of making our planet a more diverse, friendlier, healthier and more inspiring place.  To learn more about my passions and background, click here.

Allen’s Favorite Flowers

Gilbert H. Wild and I have identified some of the finest new plant varieties available for your garden today and we have spent the past year procuring and cultivating these varieties to make them available for you to add to your garden. I invite you to take advantage of these, helping you create a home that stands out from the rest.

Follow my top favorite plants and your garden will be as easy and beautiful as 1, 2, 3, DONE!

#PlantForVictory Gardens

I am also proud to announce Gilbert H. Wild has partnered with me in an inspiration challenge called #PlantForVictory, for all to enjoy on Instagram (and, I hope, to also get involved!).  In May of 2020, I approached several of the country’s leading influencers in the health, gardening and design fields to participate in an effort to get America back into the garden!  To learn more about this effort, to follow along with our influencers’ progress, or to participate yourself, click here.

Sharing is very important to me.  I have benefited immeasurably from the teachers, mentors, family members and close friends who have assisted me, and who continue to help me with my life’s work.  Because of the platforms afforded to me, I am in a unique position to share my knowledge and my love of gardening and design. The books I have written are the result of my passion to provide deep, practical insights on design, gardening and horticulture.  And, as gardening can be great exercise, from which one develops an appetite, I have also included my family book of recipes, Seasonal Recipes from the Garden.  I hope you will enjoy learning as much as I enjoy sharing what has been gifted to me.

In addition to my books, I continue to pen weekly and quarterly pieces for our P. Allen Smith family and also for magazines around the country.  If you would like to learn more about my writings, just see my ‘Publications‘ page; and, better still, sign up for my weekly eNewsletter and quarterly Naturally eMagazine.

Part of my mission in life is sharing the love of the natural world with my friends and my friends-to-be.  Whether in the garden, in the home, in business, or in our social interactions, staying close to the earth makes for a safer, more connected environment for us all.

My quarterly eMagazine–Naturally–highlights this work, and I hope is inspiration for all to similarly become involved in reconnecting with the earth.  You will find beautiful photography, happenings from my farm, and examples of others doing their part to the protect mother earth.

From Allen’s Desk

Each day as I walk through my garden, feed my chickens, and engage with the creatives with whom I work, I am filled with inspiration. Writing is a tremendous outlet and expression for my daily inspiration. And while I cannot write every day, I hope you will enjoy the following short pieces, which focus on topics I have found meaningful and of keen interest.
