Join us for an egg-citing day to learn more about the preservation of heritage poultry breeds and the option to purchase these rare birds to take home and add to your flock! It’s ideal for anyone interested in raising chickens, from small-scale chicken farmers to novices wanting a pet bird.

Learn from P. Allen Smith about his heritage breed poultry and the importance of preserving these rare breeds. P. Allen Smith and Dr. Keith Bramwell will be on-site answering all of your poultry questions and sharing their long-standing love for chickens.

He will take you to Poultryville, where you’ll see how he feeds, nurtures, and protects his own flock of heritage breeds.

At Moss Mountain Farm, we are dedicated to the preservation and support of all threatened breeds and strains of domestic poultry through the encouragement of education, stewardship, and good breeding practices.

These breeds were once very common, but as factory farms and hybrid genetics become more prevalent, these breeds have begun to vanish quickly. Together, with Allen and the Heritage Poultry Conservancy, we are working to bring back happy, healthy birds and we want to share them with you.

These breeds represent an irreplaceable piece of earth’s biodiversity and offer an incredible variety that may be needed for future farms – robust health, mothering instincts, foraging, and the ability to thrive in a changing climate.

Leading up to the day of the event, we will send out emails to our ticketed guests with a list of poultry that is ready to fly the coop and available to purchase.

Reserve your spot today before they’re gone!

(Please bring your own crate to transport your poultry on the day of the event.)
