Herb-Scented Sachets

Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh laundry right out of the dryer? There’s a way to have it without using commercial dryer sheets that are chock full of harmful chemicals. I’m going to show you a natural alternative using herbs. These sachets are not only easy to make but also cost-effective.

I recommend using dried herbs. If you’re going to use fresh ones, remember that it takes three times the amount to equal one part of dry herbs. You can use whatever herbs you like. Some of my go-tos are:

  • Lavender – Its scent is calming and relaxing and can provide respiratory relief. Some use it as an anti-depressant.
  • Rosemary – It helps open up the sinuses and can be good for people with allergies and even asthma.
  • Thyme – This herb is known for stimulating the mind and can help calm nerves.
  • Mint – A natural stimulant for clearing congestion, it’s also soothing on the digestive system.

Making Herb-Scented Sachets

The process to make these sachets is quite simple. All you need are drawstring cotton pouches and herbs. Fill the bags with your favorite herbs. Tie the bag to make sure none of the herbs can escape and pop them in the dryer with your laundry.  The herbs’ essential oils will be released, leaving your linens and clothes smelling fresh, naturally.

You can reuse these sachets for five or six times before they lose their scent. Just give them a little squeeze each time you re-use them to help release the scent.
