One of the greatest joys of gardening is bringing bouquets of cut flowers indoors. I have set aside a special area in my vegetable garden just for cut flowers.
The great thing about having a dedicated cutting garden is that you can cut as much as you want without having to worry about spoiling a plant combination.
To create a cutting garden first you need to create an out-of-the-way flowerbed in a sunny location. The size can vary depending on our situation, but keep the width of the bed at about 3 feet so you can comfortably reach the opposite side.
Prepare the beds by removing the sod and turning over the soil.
Sow flower seeds or plant nursery-grown transplants according to the directions.
Keep the beds consistently moist and apply a 2-inch layer of mulch to keep the weeds down. If you have sown seeds, wait until they have sprout to add the mulch.
In no time you will have an ample supply of blooms for creating your own one of a kind arrangements.
