SunPatiens

If you come to the farm, you’ll notice that I’ve planted SunPatiens just about anywhere I could. From the porch to the fountain garden, SunPatiens are ever-present in the outdoor “rooms” of the farm.

They are low-maintenance and grow in sun or shade. They also fill out so nicely that they give a look of abundance to any container or bed I put them in.

What’s even better is I get to enjoy these beautiful blooms almost year-round. I love sitting out on the porch after a long day with a good book or a cocktail. Sometimes Duncan joins me, and we take in the beauty of the farm punctuated by the SunPatiens’ colorful blooms.

Since the early 2000s, Sakata Seed Corporation has had an agreement with Republic of Indonesia regarding the development of SunPatiens. Sakata and the Indonesian government have agreed on how these indigenous assets will be used to further develop SunPatiens, according to principles of the Convention on Biological Diversity. In exchange for the native resources used to develop SunPatiens, Sakata shares a portion of SunPatiens royalty proceeds with the Indonesian government.  Learn more at  sunpatiens.com.
