Camellia sasanqua is a shrub that I hope to see more often in the future. It is one of the finest of all blooming shrubs that I grow in my garden and the harbinger of its later flowering and better known cousin, Camellia japonica. Camellia sasanqua has many 2 – 4 inch blooms that are either single or double petaled and white, pink or red depending on variety. C. sasanqua is less cold hardy than C. japonica but it can take more sun and dryer conditions.
