Garlic Cheese Grits
Grits are a traditionally Southern side dish, but I think that it is time for this tasty treat to break out of its stereotype and appear on dinner tables across the country. Here is a quick recipe for garlic cheese grits that I like to serve for dinner with roasted chicken and a salad.
Ingredients
- 1 cup uncooked grits
- 1 6 oz. package garlic cheese spread
- 1 cup chedar cheese, shredded
- a dash hot sauce
- salt to taste
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp. garlic, crushed
Instructions
Prepare the grits according to the package directions.
Over a low heat melt cheese and butter. Remove from heat and add cooked grits. Stir until well combined.
In a small bowl, beat the eggs, hot sauce, garlic and milk. Stir egg mixture into the grits. You'll want to do this fairly quickly so that the hot grits don't cook the eggs.
Pour into a lightly greased 8 x 12 inch baking dish and bake at 300 degrees F for 40 minutes.
Notes
Time to prepare: 50 minutes.
