Chopped Tomato Basil Sauce

I can't think of two better companions in the vegetable garden and the kitchen than tomatoes and basil. They grow so well together, it only makes sense that their flavors complement each other. Another great characteristic that they have in common is they taste great fresh-picked from the garden.
Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 2 medium cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup basil, chopped
- 4 medium sized tomatoes
Instructions
Remove and discard the cores of the tomatoes and then coarsely chop them and put them in a large bowl.
Add the olive oil, garlic, basil, salt and red pepper flakes to the tomatoes. Stir well.
Cover and set aside a few hours to release the tomato juices and let the flavors combine.
This tomato sauce will keep for one week in the refrigerator.
Notes
Time to prepare: 20 minutes.
