Turn Your Privacy Fence into a Gallery Wall

Gallery walls are a popular way to hang art inside our homes, why not use the same design principle outdoors as well? You can transform a vertical space such as a privacy fence into something eye-catching using "junk" from the attic, a few cans of spray paint and some nails.

What I love about this project is that you can do it any time of the year. It’s perfect for that period of time before spring when you can’t really get out and plant something but you want to do something creative in the garden.

So you may be asking yourself what kind of things can I use? I say anything goes as long as the items will hold up outdoors. I used a few frames that I found at yard sales and there are some items from my garden like small hand tools, a terra cotta pot, and a branch.

Dress Up Your Privacy Fence

The key is to select harmonious pieces for your gallery wall. Items that share a characteristic such as shape, material or color will look good together without a lot of effort. For the example pictured here we used a color to tie the collection together. I think the two greens work nicely with the wood of the privacy fence, but a brighter palette is also an option.

If you want to create fence art of your own. Just remember to have fun! The great thing about using repurposed items is that there’s almost no risk involved. You already have these things lying around the house, so why not put them to use? Right?
